Impacted

I like being impacted.

Directly.

By the weather. By the economy.

I like the air temperature having direct impact on what I wear.

I like having to be aware of the air quality.

I like having to set things up or secure them based on how strong the winds are.

I like knowing what season it is even without a phone to verify the date.

I like waking up naturally without an alarm, because the sun has risen and it is way too hot in my tent. Or simply because I am rested from having nothing else to do around me. Or because the birds rose with the sun and won't shut the fuck up. Or because there is some animal way too close to my site, and even if it's in the middle of the night, I am awake and ENGAGED.

I like when it's too cold for a scarf to make me nauseous. Too cold for my feet to feel restricted by socks.

I like when its too hot to care what my hair and face looks like and the priority is just avoiding heat exhaustion.

I like when nature shows me what it has gone through - when it thrives or dies regardless of what is expected for the time of year. When things happen "out of season." In direct correlation to he reality of physical conditions, rather than the specific man made construct of how we measure time.

I like when nature disrupts our daily schedule. I like weather advisories. I like full on closures even better.

Maybe I like when it's not my choice - sorry, I couldnt leave home even if i wanted. Or maybe its... sorry you couldnt go do that thing without me even if you wanted.

I like telling customers we don't have something because its not in season.

I like when my dog doesn't believe me about the weather until I open the door. And then she doesn't throw a fit about going outside anymore.

I dont love it, but I do like being devastated when someone dies. Feeling disconnected can be so terrifying.

I dont think I want to be someone who buys a house during a recession.

I dont want to be around people who think I should feel safe around them just because they haven't hurt me yet.

I dont want to throw things away just because I can afford another one. But I also need to throw like... a lot away.

I dont want to buy more shelves. I want to make more space.

I want a van. I want a go bag. I want to be able to trust my dog off leash on open land. Because I will never be able to afford fenced in property.
